MangaQuick v2

Read without waiting for the translation.

A local manga translator that processes each page and overlays the translated text as you read.

Where the name comes from
It grew out of MangaQuick, a project that already existed. I took its foundations and rebuilt it my way, with a new interface and a new architecture.

What it is

MangaQuick v2 translates manga on your own computer. It detects the text on each page with computer vision, translates it and typesets it over the original image. It works progressively: you can start reading before the chapter is done.

Why it exists

Because I wanted to read, and because it was the perfect excuse to get into computer vision and local models. I started from MangaQuick, which already solved the idea, and rebuilt it from scratch: a Python backend separate from the interface, talking over WebSockets, and an Electron desktop app.

Where it stands

Still in development. I work on it in my spare time.
