The problem
A team that maintains dozens of WordPress sites repeats the same tasks every week: pulling backups from one host, restoring them on another server, cleaning infected databases, reinstalling plugins, closing doors an attacker left open. Done by hand, over SSH, one site at a time, it is slow. And a mistake on a production server is expensive.
On top of that, the team using it is not technical. They cannot choose file by file what to delete.
How I solved it
Kraken-Ops is a desktop application for managing Plesk servers:
- Migrations: downloads backups from Hostinger and restores them on Plesk.
- Cleanup: sanitizes infected databases and files.
- Automatic hardening: Kraken classifies each site and applies its measures in order: sanitize, reinstall, files, XML-RPC, REST API, login, optimize and configuration. The operator doesn’t decide file by file; they get a report of what was done and what was left out.
- Maintenance: plugin installs, restarts and server management.
How it’s built
Deleting files on someone else’s server is the delicate part. Kraken never deletes outright: it moves each file to a private holding area and records what was touched and why, so everything can be undone. It also recognizes its own protections so it never mistakes them for malware.
The core is written in Rust, separate from the window, and is fully tested without it by hundreds of tests.
