Why this site exists

I bought the domain without a clear idea of what to put on it. In the end, the answer was in my own projects.

I bought mitsukai.dev without really knowing what to do with it. A portfolio felt like too little. A list of links, even less.

What I ended up doing was looking at the projects I’ve been working on for months, side by side: AllSigna, Oikara, the platform for internet providers and Kraken-Ops. I had never thought of them as a set. They serve very different industries, but they all do something similar: they hold information a company depends on. Signed agreements, the books, the network, the servers. If any of that gets lost or breaks, the company feels it the same day.

That helped me decide what to show. I didn’t want a catalog of technologies. I wanted to explain what problem each system solves and how I built it.

The name and the design

I didn’t make up Mitsukai for this site. It’s a name I’ve used for years, given to me by a very special person. In Japanese it means messenger, the one who is sent, and it’s used for angel.

The design is dark because that’s how I work: almost everything you see here I wrote at night. I’ve associated turquoise with the brand for a while. And there’s a hidden detail on the home page; move your cursor slowly and you’ll find it.

What’s next

This log will have short notes on what I’m building, the problems I run into and how I solve them. No fixed schedule. Just when there’s something worth telling.

The site is built with Astro. It’s my first time using it.
